Facilities

Durham Parks and Recreation is located on the second floor of the Holton Career and Resource Center, and offers a variety of programs, activities and events. Participants registering for Holton Career and Resource Center programs must have already completed first grade.

Free Programs & Activities

All programs and activities, including the fitness center, open gym, and computer lab at the Holton Career and Resource Center are free to City residents as part of a pilot program (Care programs, Jr. NBA and rentals are not part of this pilot program).

Fitness Center

The fitness center at Holton offers treadmills, recumbent bikes and elliptical machines for cardio workouts. Free weights and other strength training equipment is available for strength workouts. Please bring your own towel.

Indoor Walking 

Indoor Walking at the Holton Career and Resource Center is open at no cost.

PlayPrints Interactive Covered Play Area

PlayPrints are ground markings and colorful shapes painted on the pavement to encourage physical activity. The interactive designs include agility courses, Hopscotch and Four Square. This play area is located under a covered structure and is ideal for play in all types of weather. PlayPrints was funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) and the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association (NCRPA).

Field Rentals

Holton Career & Resource Center offers a multipurpose grass field, that is available for rentals. Please visit our athletic rentals page for details on renting the field.

Indoor Rentals

Holton Career & Resource Center has a variety of rooms available to rent for your next meeting, birthday party, baby shower, etc. For availability, complete a Recreation Center Rental Request Form, email Dianne Thorne, call 919-354-2750, ext. 27272, or visit us at 401 North Driver Street, Durham, NC 27703, during normal business hours. All reservations must be made at least 45 days in advance.
