Edison Johnson Fitness Room

The fitness room offers a variety of equipment including treadmills, recumbent and upright bikes, elliptical trainers, dumbbells, and stability balls. Please bring your own towel. Fitness room orientations are available by appointment.

Pay a daily entrance fee or purchase a monthly wellness package to utilize the fitness room.

Racquetball Court Reservations
Edison Johnson has three racquetball courts available for 1-hour rentals. Reservations are recommended, but not required. Reservations can be made online or by calling the center, up to 7 days in advance.

Edison Johnson Recreation Center offers programs for all ages year-round. View our Play More Guide online or search ActiveNet for our current programs.

Indoor Rentals

Edison Johnson Recreation Center has a variety of rooms available to rent for your next meeting, party, or event. For availability, complete a Recreation Center Rental Request Form, please email Jacob Guiot at jacob.guiot@durhamnc.gov, or visit us at 500 West Murray Avenue, Durham, NC 27704 during normal business hours. All reservations must be made at least 30 days in advance.

Rock Quarry Park

Edison Johnson Recreation Center is located within Rock Quarry Park, which includes Tennis Courts, an Athletic Field, Restrooms, Picnic Tables, Playground, and Water Fountain.

Outdoor Fitness Equipment

Rock Quarry Park offers Outdoor Fitness Equipment located near Edison Johnson Recreation Center. This area features a lift & row station, pull up bar station, push up station, a pipe climber, and two sit up stations. Each piece of equipment features a placard with exercise suggestions.
