The cloud of COVID-19 may rain on Durham's Holiday Parade and Fun Fest (HPFF), but it will not stop Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) from hosting a series of socially ---physically distanced holiday events.
After careful consideration, the City of Durham canceled the HPFF amid the challenge to maintain the regulations set forth by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS).
"No one wants to see Santa more than me, or enjoys community-wide gatherings where we come together as one, more than me. However, if making temporary adjustments and being innovative is what it takes to help secure community-wide health and wellness, we’ll answer the call to serve Durham, said DPR Director Wade Walcutt. “The great team of Parks and Recreation will be providing a series of fun, family-friendly activities designed to protect the health and safety of our community."
In December, DPR will host three weekends of Bull City Holidayz events as well as a series of holiday-themed activities. Preregistration for all events is required as space limitations are necessary to meet the social distance guidelines. On-site registration will not be available. Visit the Bull City Holidayz page for details on all of our upcoming events and programs.
