Park Amenities to be Winterized by November 15

As we approach the winter months, Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) will start shutting down certain park amenities that are subject to freezing. In addition to the pools and the spraygrounds, DPR has started the winterization of irrigation systems, park restrooms, and drinking fountains. This process should be complete with all freeze sensitive amenities winterized by November 15.

Since 2014 DPR has been upgrading park restrooms in high use parks to make them resistant to freezing year round. Except for extreme sustained cold, these restrooms are available to residents to use year round. Year round restrooms can currently be found at the following locations:

  • Bethesda Park
  • Duke Park
  • East End Park
  • Garrett Road Park
  • Sherwood Park
  • Solite Park
  • Southern Boundaries Park
  • Twin Lakes Park
  • West Point on the Eno Park
  • Whippoorwill Park
